New college subcommittees on Media Production and Media Studies to meet Sept. 26

Two subcommittees helping to plan the proposed new College of Media, Communication and Information (CMCI) will hold public meetings Thursday, Sept. 26 to share their initial ideas and solicit comments. The subcommittees are among several charged with recommending curriculum and structure for the college’s seven academic units.

The CMCI’s Media Production subcommittee will meet on Thursday, Sept. 26,  from 3:30 p.m.-4:15 p.m. in Muenzinger, Room E123. The subcommittee on Media Studies will follow immediately, from 4:15-5 p.m., also in Muenzinger, Room E123.

The CMCI will be an interdisciplinary college, housing programs in journalism; advertising and design; communication; media production; intermedia digital art, writing and performance; media studies and information.

CU Provost Russell L. Moore appointed an implementation committee earlier this year, which established subcommittees that will explore how academic units and curriculum should be organized and how the college would be governed and financed. Other committees will draft a diversity plan, draw up bylaws and faculty policies and procedures, design the college budget and make recommendations about student issues, including advising and assessment. The subcommittees will make their reports by December 31, 2013. CU-Boulder will make a complete proposal for the college to the university Board of Regents next spring.
