Move your CULink account to Gmail and you could win a Nexus 7 tablet

Finally, it's here. A Gmail migration tool is now ready to help students (including confirmed students), alumni and retirees initiate the migration of their messages and folders from CULink to Gmail. Also when you initiate your migration, your e-mail will be rerouted to Gmail so you can immediately begin using your Colorado.edu Gmail accounts for all your e-mail and calendaring needs. It's quick and easy to make the switch. And CU-Boulder students who use the migration tool to migrate their account will be automatically entered into a drawing to win a Google Nexus 7 tablet or Google Play gift card.

Here's how the migration process works:

Log in at https://gogoogle.colorado.edu/ using your CU-Boulder username and IdentiKey password (the same credentials you use to log in to CULink, MyCUInfo and other campus online services). In order to use the migration tool, your primary CU-Boulder affiliation must be Student, Admitted Student, Alumni or Retiree. Check the box to migrate your e-mail, including all messages and folders, to your Gmail account. Once you do this, all new e-mail will start going to your Colorado.edu Gmail inbox and you will receive instructions about how to access your account.

You can start using your Gmail account immediately, although depending upon the number of migration requests being processed, it could take anywhere from 4 to 48 hours for all your messages to be moved from CULink to Gmail.

If you want to use an e-mail program such as Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail with your Gmail account, we have step-by-step instructions for setting up a variety of e-mail programs.

After your migration is complete, your CULink account will still be available so that you can retrieve any information you need (contacts, calendars, etc.) before your CULink account is deactivated this summer.

Students: Once you've migrated your account to Gmail, you can get another entry for the Google drawings by following OIT on Facebook or Twitter and sharing or retweeting our Gmail migration messages.

Please note: The migration tool can only be used by those with a CU-Boulder "student" or "confirmed student" affiliation and by alumni and retirees with accounts on CULink. Migration information for other affiliations such as faculty and staff is on the Google Apps page under Migration Paths.

Students, alumni and retirees are welcome to wait and have their accounts migrated during the summer when all accounts that remain on CULink will be scheduled for migration to Gmail, but you must use the migration tool if you want to control the timing of your migration.

Gmail comes with a generous 25 gigabyte e-mail storage capacity--120+ times the quota size on CULink. You also get to keep your first.lastname@colorado.edu address with Gmail. You can learn more about the many benefits to Gmail and Google Apps on the CU-Boulder Google Apps page.

The Office of Information Technology wants to ensure all migrations to Gmail are as painless and free of concern as possible. If you have questions about migration to Gmail or about e-mail and calendaring in general, please contact the IT Service Center at 303-735-4357 (5-HELP from a campus phone) or help@colorado.edu. Phone help is available: Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.

Please let us know how we can help you with your move to Gmail.
