Free advanced screening of 'The Fifth Estate'

The International Film Series will host a free advanced screening of "The Fifth Estate" starring Benedict Cumberbatch focusing on the responsibility and morality of certain information and the media's use of it on Monday, Sept. 30, 7 p.m. Muenzinger Auditorium. The Fifth Estate is a 2013 thriller film about the news-leaking website WikiLeaks starring Benedict Cumberbatch as its editor-in-chief and founder Julian Assange, and Daniel Brühl as its former spokesperson Daniel Domscheit-Berg. It is directed by Bill Condon with a screenplay by Josh Singer based in-part on Domscheit-Berg's book "Inside WikiLeaks: My Time with Julian Assange and the World's Most Dangerous Website," as well as "WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange's War on Secrecy" by British journalists David Leigh and Luke Harding.

The screening will be a first-come, first-served affair for people who pick up tickets at IFS screenings this week. You can also get put on an RSVP list by visiting the International Film Series FaceBook page.

The film will be released in theaters nationwide on Oct. 18.
