Fraternities and sororities save money by going green

Green Greeks, a campus group that aims to promote environmental awareness in the Greek community and improve efficiency in Greek housing, is currently looking for new members from fraternities and sororities. If you're interested in joining, or would like to learn how to save money for your house, send an email to greengreeks@colorado.edu.

Green Greeks provides free energy assessments for fraternity and sorority houses that will save money on utility bills and reduce their impact on the environment. A trained team of technicians will install energy and water saving devices such as CFLs (Compact Fluorescent Lights), low-flow shower heads, faucet aerators, window film, pipe insulation and shower timers.

Greek Sustainability was created by the Environmental Center with goal of improving sustainability in Greek housing and raising environmental awareness in the community. The main focus of the program is getting houses to sign up for SCORE Energy Evaluations, which provide chapter houses with free energy and water saving products as well as recommendations for how to further improve energy efficiency. The evaluations take about an hour.
