Come learn empowering and effective verbal and physical skills to increase your safety in a wide range of real-life scenarios involving intimate partners, dates, acquaintances and strangers. Through interactive discussion and hands-on practice, we will explore the importance of intuition, the realities of violence and safety, and learn to convey awareness and assert our boundaries.
You will gain knowledge and skills, and practice a variety of physical techniques including defense from threatening holds, defense from the ground and defense against multiple attackers or weapons. All self-identified women are welcome, including gender queer and transgender women. Classes start Thursday, Sept. 12 at 7:15 p.m. Classes are available to both members and nonmembers of the Student Recreation Center.
