The CU-Boulder Department of Public Safety is pleased to announce the hiring of a new Parking & Transportation Services director. David Lieb, currently the Associate Director for Cornell University’s Office of Transportation Services, is looking forward to joining CU on October 1.
For more than 20 years David Lieb was a part of, and then led, the team responsible for the successful implementation and marketing of Cornell’s integrated Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program that has reduced by more than 26 percent the number of faculty and staff vehicles brought to campus each day. The program has won numerous state and national awards, including the EPA’s “Way-to-Go” award and the New York State Governor’s Award for Pollution Prevention. In 2004, the EPA designated Cornell one of the Best Workplaces for Commuters.
David was the chairman of the board and is a co-founder of Ithaca Carshare, Inc. a not-for-profit, local, independent carsharing service. In September 2009, Ithaca Carshare was named the inaugural recipient of the Tompkins County Environmental Management Council’s “Transportation Initiative of the Year Award.” He also convened the Tompkins County Rideshare Consortium, which has brought an online ridematching service (Zimride) to TC3, Ithaca College, Cornell University, and the broader Tompkins County community. David also serves on the board of directors for the regional public transit agency, TCAT. David started his career as a communications analyst/writer for Cornell University, then held various Transportation Services positions at the university. He has earned two degrees from Cornell – a bachelor of arts degree in English (1989) and a master of professional studies in community and rural development (2006).
