CU-Boulder adds new top ranking with AWRU

The University of Colorado Boulder has landed at No. 33 on the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). High placements in the category of natural sciences and mathematics, as well as a top 25 result in annual research income, led to an institutional score that places CU-Boulder in the top 25 universities in the United States.

The AWRU assesses more than 1,000 institutions and publishes rankings for the World Top 500 Universities, the World Top 100 Universities in five broad subject fields (natural sciences and mathematics, engineering/technology and computer sciences, life and agricultural sciences, clinical medicine and pharmacy, and social sciences), and the World Top 100 Universities in five subject fields or disciplines (mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science and economics/business). The ranking methodology relies on several indicators of academic or research performance, including alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, highly cited researchers, papers published in Nature and Science, papers indexed in major citation indices, and the per capita academic performance of an institution.
