Change Your Behavior, Change Your Weight: An Educational Support Group

Group meets for 8 sessions, beginning July 10, at the UMC, from 12-1:30 p.m.

Explore behaviors causing and/or maintaining excess weight and/or obesity. Participants will learn why crash dieting and temporary weight changes don’t work. Topics include motivation and goal setting for long-term weight loss, journaling food intake, mindless and mindful eating, impulsive eating, body image, and adding activity to support weight loss. Come prepared to learn and apply ways to change behavior in support of sustainable weight loss.

Janeen Haller-Abernethy, MSW – Counselor with the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program
. Janeen holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in social work from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has over 10 years of experience providing counseling, advocacy, and support to clients of diverse situations, cultures, and backgrounds. She is also a certified personal trainer and has graduate-level training in nutrition and health education. In addition to counseling, Janeen works as a coach, trainer, and group fitness instructor at local community recreation facilities.
