Campus construction update

Students, faculty and others returning to campus this week will notice some new construction sites. Please accept this temporary inconvenience. Facilities Management is working on several exciting projects that will make our campus a better place to teach, learn, study, live and recreate.

Recreation Center

Renovation and site work has begun. The center will stay open for use throughout the construction process, but users are encouraged to check Buff Up the Rec on a regular basis for changes to normal operating procedures, as well as to follow all signs in the construction area.

Central Campus Walkway/Engine Alley

Watch out for landscaping activity along the Central Campus Walkway (aka “Engine Alley”) in the vicinity of the University Theatre, Education, Guggenheim Geography and Museum Collections. Developments also are planned to make the walkway more pedestrian friendly.

Broadway & Euclid

If you’re on the Hill, be sure to check out the new overpass and underpass at Broadway and Euclid. CUSG made a contribution to this project, which was a partnership between CU, the City of Boulder, Boulder County, CDOT and RTD. A grand opening celebration is set to take place in September; watch CU Boulder Today for more details. Please note that the bus stop on Euclid Avenue, which services the Buff Bus, HOP, Stampede, 209, and J routes, has been shifted from the north side of the street to the south side.

North-South Bikeway at the Engineering Center

Improvements to this commuter path across campus are largely complete, though you’ll still notice landscaping work in progress along the margins. A bike station sponsored by the Environmental Center, similar to the one east of the UMC, will be installed near the southwest corner of the Engineering Center in October.

Kittredge

Construction is fully under way. Kittredge West is being renovated and a brand new residence hall with additional amenities is also being built. Expect detours on Kittredge Loop Road; please follow all signs in the area.
