Summer 2013 is shaping up to be a very ambitious time for campus construction. Facilities Management has a number of utilities and site upgrade projects planned for the central campus area that will help maintain a safe, functional environment. In addition, we’ll continue work on the Rec Center, put finishing touches on the Kittredge Complex, upgrade the teaching labs in Ekeley, and begin exciting renovations on Baker Hall.
We’re working to minimize disruption as much as possible, and to that end have chosen to concentrate activity during summer break. Expect to see detours, signage and flaggers, particularly in the central campus area as the utilities projects progress. Construction hotspots include Norlin Quad, 18th & Colorado, Duane Physics, Baker Hall, Ekeley Sciences, the west entrance of Engineering, and the east side of UMC. Please exercise caution in the area, follow detours, and obey bike dismount zones.
To answer questions and address concerns about summer construction impacts, we will be hosting an informational table on Wednesday, April 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the UMC next to Baby Doe’s. Stop by to ask questions, learn more about the projects, and share feedback.
We appreciate the patience of campus users during these temporary inconveniences and will keep you updated via CU-Boulder Today. As always, our goal is to make this campus a spectacular place to learn, live and work.
