The University of Colorado Conflict Resolution Consortium's Information Exchange on Peace Research and Conflict Resolution is now available. The Exchange consists of thirteen files, contributed by more than twenty research centers world-wide, and containing approximately 55,000 bibliographic citations. Many entries contain search codes and some contain abstracts or annotations. Some organizational information is also included.
The Information Exchange is a cooperative program funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and the United States Institute of Peace (for peace-related topics only). Under the program, organizations with computer-based information related to peace research or conflict resolution contribute that information to the Exchange through the Consortium. The Consortium then takes that information (in its many different computer formats); combines it into a single, computer searchable system; inserts standardized search terms; and distributes the system to contributors and others for their own use. It should be noted, however, that budgetary constraints associated with this low-cost project have forced us to employ a number of cost-saving measures. These measures will require minor adjustments and "workarounds" on the part of users.
