grazing controversies in the American West. Included are sites concerned with
ranching, management of rangeland, preservation of grasslands, and mitigation of
cattle caused disturbances to grasslands and riparian habitats.

- People for the West
- The mission statement of The People for the West is as follows. Their
campaign builds and supports grassroots chapters that affect change within the
system. Working together to ensure job security and strong communities are
protected, we challenge proposed legislation that affects the multiple use law
of the land and endorses overzealous environmental regulations that put nature
before human beings. We fight against excessive government regulation that
impedes our American freedoms. This site offers position papers on many topics
including: ednagered species, federal land, forestry, grazing, mining water
rights, Superfund etc. This site presents a conservative perspective on these
issues. It is an informative and useful site.
- Gamagrass Seed Company
- This is the site of the Gamagrass Seed Company, of Falls City, Nebraska.
It offers a variety of seed for sale for use with grazing animals. It is a
useful and interesting site.

Resources Conservation Services - USDA
- This is a site of the Natural Resources Conservation Services, a division
of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The site offers links to
pages with information on wind erosion, soil loss equation application, crop
rotation detail applications, public information application, and program
evaluation worksheets. In addition it offers opportunities to connect with NRCS
personnel. This is a useful and informative site.
- Shortgrass
Steppe - LTER Site
- This is a site maintained by Colorado State University. The site is
focused upon information about the Shortgrass Steppe Long Term Ecological
Research Site. This site offeres links to many other sites which will be of
interest to those who are interested in grazing and grasslands in semi-arid to
arid locations. Ther are multiple maps available as well. This is an extremely
useful and informative site.

and Eastern Colorado Desert Coordinated Ecosystem Managment Plan
- This is the site of the Northern and Eastern Colorado Desert Coordinated
Ecosystem Managment Plan. The stated purpose of the plan is to facilitate
recovery of Desert Tortoise, conservation for 29 specific species-sensitive
habitats; ecosystem management plan, and greater sophisticated approach to
habitat management Data available from this site include: geology, soils,
hydrology, land use, recreational use, remote imagery, vegetation maps,
ecological data, terrestrial data: birds. This site offers multiple links to
other sites of interest and is a useful site.
- Mesa County, Colorado
- This is a site maintained by Mesa County, Colorado. It has multiple links
to other sites which include, municipalities in the county, regional regulatory
agencies, industry of importance to the area and recreational information.
Through this site one has access to maps and other useful information. This is
a very useful and informative site.

Resources
- This is the site of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources. It has
links to agencies within the State which are concerned with the following:
wildlife, oil and gas, soil conservation, land, State parks, geological survey,
water resources, and minerals. This is an extremely comprehensive site for
information about natural resources in the State of Colorado. This is an
extremely useful and informative site.
- Scarlet Gilia
- This is a site concerned with the effects of ungulate grazing on fitness in
Scarlet Gilia. It is the product of work done at the University of Colorado
Mountain Research Station under the auspices of the Department of Ecology and
Evolution at the University of Chicago. It is informative, if narrowly focused.

Cooperative Extension Service
- This is a site of the University of California Cooperative Extension
Service. It offers multiple links to other Extension Services, and sites with
useful information about rangeland management. This is a comprehensive site
with a great deal of useful information for anyone interested in grazing issues
in the West.
- High Country News
- This is the main site for High Country News. This is a newspaper
published in Colorado and is devoted to issues concerning the West. From this
site one may browse the latest issues and search archives. This is a well
respected newspaper with knowledgeable reporters who produce informative
articles. Generally, the newspaper presents the view of long-time residents of
the West. This is a very useful site for those interested in the local
perspective on important issues in the West.

- This is the site of the Center of the American West. The Center of the
American West's mission is to explore the distinctive character and issues that
are of paramount importance to Westerners; to bring together widely diverse
insights as we explore the West of the past, examine the present, and prepare
for the future; and thus, help Westerners become well informed, participating
citizens in their communities and the West. The Center's program brings together
people from every Western culture, tradition and occupation in settings where
Westerners can contribute to the dialogue about critical matters ranging from
water and grazing to regional identity, from community development to public
policy, and from the region's history to the character of Western literature,
music, and arts. This site offers links to other sites which will be of interest
to those concerned over issues affecting the West.
