Entering students will be advised during their initial year by the Director of Graduate Studies. As a student’s knowledge of the faculty increases it is expected that each student will choose an advisor closer to their own research interests.
As they enter the second year of study, each student is required to notify the program assistant of their choice of advisor. Usually, this advisor will also serve as the chair of the various committees required at different stages of both the M.A. and Ph.D. programs. The advisor may be a core, joint, or participating member of the Comparative Literature faculty. For an advisor who is not such a member, the student should consult with the Director of Graduate Studies.
