Application: The double bind & reframing
Double bind: … people caught up in an ongoing system which produces conflicting definitions of the relationship and consequent subjective distress. (Bateson, 1968)
Reframing: A shift in viewpoint that changes how the relationship is experienced. Repunctuates the communication sequence.
