Minimal Justification

Counterattitudinal action, freely chosen with little incentive or justification, leads to a change in attitude.
Example: $1-$20 experiment.
Factors that increase dissonance:
Inconsistency of action with attitudes.
Lack of incentive/reward.
Free choice (personal responsibility).
Application: Should a new product be introduced at a special low price?
