Krtistina Ruiz-Mesa’s research interests focus on the construction and communication of diversity in the context of U.S. higher education. Her dissertation research examines the communicative practices of chief diversity officers in U.S. colleges and universities. Her previous work on the academic impact of experiencing racial microaggressions in higher education has been used to create programming and improve support services for underrepresented students at several universities throughout the nation.

She has a master’s degree in strategic communication and a bachelor’s in communication rhetoric and performance from Villanova University.
