The National Association of Hispanic Journalists is holding its eighth annual Hispanicize Conference this week in Miami. Several CMCI students, staff members and alumni are present at the event, which gathers and celebrates Latino professionals in media-focused fields.

The conference features panels and discussions on everything from fake news to digital innovation, and also concerts and film screenings. So far, students have had the opportunity to interview ESPN director Hugo Balta, civil rights leader Jesse Jackson and NAHJ president Alberto Mendoza.

“This has been a very uplifting conference,” said Dave Martinez, the college’s inclusion and scholarships coordinator.
