Thin Films Research

IN FILMS GROUP

The Thin Films Group at the University of Colorado is focused on studying the growth, properties and applications of inorganic, organic and molecular thin films.  Inorganic thin films are important for semiconductor circuits, photovoltaic devices and protective coatings.  Organic thin films play a critical role in chemical sensors, optical liquid crystal displays and in surface chemistry on atmospheric aerosols.  Molecular solid films are essential in understanding heterogeneous atmospheric chemistry on cloud and aerosol particles.

The goals of the Thin Films Group are to advance the understanding and application of thin films and provide a forum for the interchange of ideas related to thin films. The Thin Films Group is interdisciplinary and involves faculty from a variety of divisions and departments.  The current faculty affiliated with the Thin Films Group are:

Steven George, Dept. of Chemistry and Biochemistry
Kathy Rowlen, Dept. of Chemistry and Biochemistry
