Most chemistry graduate students get a stipend during the time they are working on their degree. It is possible to live off this stipend, but money may get very tight. Some graduate students opt to get loans, especially the first year, so they can fully enjoy the recreation that Colorado has to offer. Loans are available to graduate students through the U.S. Department of Education. You can find all the information you need to apply for a loan though the financial aid office: www.colorado.edu/finaid/ (Click on the link to get directions and forms.) These loans are interest free while you maintain your student status.
