Health Insurance

If you are in need of Health Insurance, the student health services here at CU provides a comprehensive plan to all students. There are two plans, one of which is just a supplement to primary health care. The two plans are as follows (costs are 2004-05):

Student Gold Comprehensive Plan $650.00 / per semester

Student Value Supplemental Plan $150.00 / per semester

While you are a TA, the department will pay 70% of the cost of the Student Gold plan ($455/semester). This is what to expect from this health plan as a healthy (no pre-existing conditions) person:

• As long as you are able to go to Wardenburg - the health center on campus your visit will cost a $5 copay.
• If you are out of town or outside of Wardenburg's hours, you will be charged $200 for an emergency room visit, with an additional $200 deductible for these types of services.
• There is no routine dental coverage, although the Health Center offers inexpensive rates for dental visits.
• One eye exam per year is covered.
• Prescriptions are covered at 50%, and you can visit any pharmacy.
• Services at Wardenburg include a Women's Clinic, Men's Clinic, Travel Clinic, Physical Therapy, Urgent Care, etc.
