Research Experience for Undergraduates
in Functional Materials Science and Engineering
June 1 - August 7, 2009
Profs. Daniel K. Schwartz and John L. Falconer
Program Directors
The CU-Boulder Department of Chemical & Biological Engineering will be conducting a ten-week summer research program in functional materials science and engineering. In collaboration with a faculty member and a graduate student or post-doctoral fellow, each undergraduate participant will pursue fundamental investigations of novel advanced materials designed to have specific properties. Examples include nanocomposites, biomaterials, sensors, catalysts, polymers, gels, ceramics, thin films, and membranes. The program also includes a weekly seminar series, organized social events, and a student poster competition. Undergraduates in chemical engineering, bioengineering, chemistry, biochemistry, environmental engineering, and related fields are eligible for the program and applications from members of under-represented groups are strongly encouraged. Please note that eligibility for this program is restricted to US citizens and permanent residents.
The financial provisions for this program are:
