Complex Fluids and Microfluidic Devices
Faculty: Anseth, Bowman, Davis, Hrenya, Jayaraman, Randolph, Weimer
A core research area in chemical and biological engineering is in the area of fluid mechanics. The department’s research focuses on a number of novel fields, including flows of complex multi-phase systems and the preparation and use of microfluidic devices. Examples of specific research thrusts include the following:
•Particulate systems and aerosol materials synthesis
•Emulsion and suspension processing
•Flow in and preparation of microfluidic devices
•Flow in biological systems (e.g., blood flow)
•Supercritical fluid-based particle synthesis processes and supercritical fluid emulsions
