Departmental Highlights
The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering is a world-class department that produces cutting-edge research, patents, companies and organizations. In addition to these accomplishments many members of the Department are involved in organizations and activities that extend beyond their contributions at the University.
Professor Arthi Jayaraman was appointment as the Patten Faculty Fellow in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. Professor Jayaraman's appointment as the Patten Faculty Fellow (or Patten Assistant Professor) recognizes her achievements as an assistant professor at CU, including her numerous grants, outstanding publications, an Early Career Award from the Department of Energy's Early Career program, and the Department's Undergraduate Teaching Award. We are delighted to have Professor Jayaraman recognized with this distinction.
The Society for Biomaterials recently announced its undergraduate and graduate student awards for 2012, both of which are singular and require the submission of a full manuscript as a part of the nomination. Students from our department were selected to receive both; Mark Tibbitt, advised by Professor Anseth, will receive the 2012 Award for Outstanding PhD Research, and our undergraduate student, Anna Blakney, who is supervised by Stephanie Bryant, will receive the 2012 Undergraduate Student Award from the Society for Biomaterials.
