ChBE Faculty Positions at the University of Colorado
The Department currently has 21 full-time faculty (two joint with Chemistry), 114 graduate students, nearly 20 postdoctoral fellows, and 416 undergraduates. The faculty are dedicated to both research and education, and the Department is characterized by collaboration involving students, faculty, and other departments. For example, nearly 100 undergraduate students participated in faculty-directed research in this past year. Several measures of excellence include:
Graduate Students
• Average undergraduate GPA 3.71/4.00
• Four current graduate students selected as NSF Graduate Fellows, seven NIH Fellows, and 36 as DoEd GAANN Fellows
• 82% U.S. citizens; 50% female or minority; over 100 PhD students
Faculty
• In the last six years, departmental faculty have been elected to the National Academy of Engineering, named one of the “One Hundred Chemical Engineers of the Modern Era” by AIChE, received two AIChE Colburn Awards, two ASEE McGraw Awards, two AIChE Professional Progress Awards, the AIChE Wilhelm Award, two Society of Biomaterials Clemson Awards, an ASEE Dow Lectureship, ACS PROGRESS/Dreyfus Lectureship, a Technology Review TR35 award, R&D Magazine Inventor of the Year Award, and the NSF Waterman Award
• Eight peer-reviewed publications per faculty member per year
• Fourteen technical presentations per faculty member per year
• $500,000 in research expenditures and $700,000 in new research grants per faculty member in 2008-09
• Thirteen faculty have won Outstanding Research Awards, and 11 have won Outstanding Teaching Awards
