Community Service Activities
OXE is involved with several
community service events each year. It
is important to contribute to our local community whenever possible. Additionally, these activities are always
enjoyable and a welcomed break from school.
Below are descriptions of our annual activities.
Christmas Decorations at Golden Gate Retirement
Home
During
the holiday season, we help set up Christmas decorations at the Golden Gate
Retirement Home. The experience is
always fun and truly rewarding.
Middle School Outreach
In the spring semester, chemical engineering students venture to a
local middle school for our outreach program.
Our volunteers educate the students about oil spills and assist with a
hands-on oil spill simulation activity.
The goals of this program are to introduce these young minds to chemical
engineering and help develop their critical thinking skills.
Each
year more than 800 incidents of child abuse and neglect are investigated by
authorities in
In
the spring semester, members of Omega Chi Epsilon stuff envelopes for Voices
for Children’s annual fundraiser. The
event raises thousands of dollars annually.
Goggle Collection
Most
engineering students are required to take chemistry lab, but few of them use
their goggles and gloves after the course completion and end up eventually
throwing them away. At the end of the
fall and spring semesters, we collect goggles and latex gloves from these
students and donate them to various public schools.
