AEROSOL FLOW PRODUCTION OF FINE NICKEL METAL POWDER

The development of ultra-fine metal powders is of great current commercial interest. For example, fine nickel powder is a required ingredient for rechargeable batteries for electric hybrid cars. A new, advantageous method for fine metal powder production is the aerosol flow method. The precursor powder is fed through a heated transport tube as a disperse dust cloud. Typical residence times for the aerosol transport tube are on the order of only a few seconds, resulting in fine, non-agglomerated metal product powder.
