Chern-Hooi Lim was one of five students nationwide to win a fall 2013 American Chemical Society (ACS) Chemical Computing Group Excellence Award for Graduate Students. Lim, a graduate student in the Musgrave Group, won for his research titled, "Mechanism of Homogeneous Reduction of CO2 by Pyridine: Proton Relay in Aqueous Solvent and Aromatic Stabilization".
The honor includes a $1,150 award as well as being recognized during a ceremony at the ACS COMP Division Poster Session.
In addition to receiving the award, Lim was invited to serve as a panelist at a press conference at the Fall 2013 ACS National Meeting. The discussion was how to covert CO2 into a fuel.
Lim was previously named a ConocoPhillips Fellow for his research titled, "Ab initio design of efficient catalysts for the chemical reduction of CO2 to methanol and other fuels".
