State of the Campus Address In essence, we are poised at a crossroads. We have a responsibility to preserve this great institution and its mission to educate, to discover, and to serve. Simply put, that means we must do things differently in the future. What I have outlined here today is a vision and plan for pursuing excellence over the next ten years, thereby making CU-Boulder a better institution. Our strategic investment plan, Quality for Colorado, is intended to move us forward along that path. Our next steps involve engaging the campus community in a dialogue about the specific details of implementing the plan and educating our supporters — students, parents, alumni, donors, community members, legislators and others— so that they can advocate effectively for us. Today, I am challenging the campus to think differently about how we operate and to help us develop new initiatives that will help move us forward. With your help, we can apply innovative ideas for realizing our goal: becoming one of the finest teaching and research universities in the nation. I look forward to working with you to ensure the future of this wonderful university. In partnership, we can achieve great things. Thank you.
