ELLC - CU LEAD Alliance Scholarship

The CU Leadership, Excellence, Achievement, and Diversity Alliance is a set of multidisciplinary academic neighborhoods whose students, faculty, and staff are united to promote diversity and educational excellence for our campus through access for students of color and first generation students.  The CU-LEAD Scholarship Fund is aimed at recruiting and retaining a diverse student body.  The scholarship program offers a range of services and financial benefits for highly motivated students of color and first generation college students.  Students enrolled in the Leadership RAP Ethnic Living and Learning Community are eligible to apply for a $6,000 CU LEAD Alliance Scholarship. Scholarship recipients will receive $1,500 each year for four years contingent on full-time enrollment, reasonable academic progress and continued participation in the ELLC program. In addition, students who receive the LEAD Alliance Scholarship will receive a one-time award of $725 to cover the cost to the residential academic program participation fee.

To Apply:

1. Submit a short essay no longer than one page illustrating the following points remembering to include your name, student number, address and phone number

  • Why diversity is important to you.
  • Your interest in living in a multicultural community.
  • What you would like to learn about multicultural leadership.
  • How you will use this knowledge.
  • A statement on how receiving this award will assist you in obtaining your educational goals.

2. A Copy of your high school and/or college transcript.

3. A completed CU-LEAD Alliance Scholarship Application .

Scholarship Recipients Requirements:

  • Enroll in the following courses- Leadership for the 21 st Century (Fall semester and meets Arts and Sciences Ideals and Values core curriculum) and Understanding Privilege and Oppression in Contemporary US Societies (Spring semester and meets Arts and Sciences Culture and Gender core curriculum or Arts and Sciences Contemporary Societies core curriculum).
  • Enroll for 1 credit Field Practicum in the Fall semester and 1 credit Field Practicum in the Spring semester.
  • Meet and maintain at least a 2.5 GPA
  • Active participation in ELLC Scholars Program
  • Attend CU LEAD Alliance Orientation .
  • Must be a registered full-time student.

Please note: The Office of Financial Aid will divide this scholarship equally between fall and spring semesters and will directly credit your tuition and fees bill each semester as applicable. Please be aware that receiving this award may affect your current financial aid award. If your financial aid will be altered due to this scholarship you will receive a Revised Award Letter from the Office of Financial Aid.
