The CLR Ethnic Living and Learning Community“ Be the change you want to see in the world”
Our Mission is to create a supportive multicultural living and learning community that contributes to the success of students at the University of Colorado AND to develop culturally competent leaders who practice an ethic of civic and social responsibility. Stearns East in Williams Village is home to the Ethnic Living and Learning Community (ELLC).
The ELLC is the only intentional multicultural residential academic program at the University
of Colorado at Boulder. The academic theme of the ELLC is the study and practice of culturally competent leadership from a multidisciplinary perspective. Basic program components include:
Academics Participants take 4 hours of Leadership course work each semester at Williams Village focusing on issues of race, ethnicity, and equity. The ELLC uses the experience of living in a focused multiracial environment to amplify the academic knowledge base. In addition, students may also enroll in other Arts and Sciences core courses offered by the Chancellor’s Leadership Residential Academic Program. ~ Angela Tagliaferro “I was able to build friendships that will last way after the program is over.” ~ Eskedar Makonnen “The best thing about living in Williams Village is that after a long day, you can do back to a place that feels like home.
