The Leadership Programs at Williams Village
Williams Village is the home of two residential academic programs, the Chancellor's Leadership Studies Program (CLSP) and the Ethnic Living and Learning Community Leadership Studies Program (ELLC). Participation in these programs is open to all students at the residence hall.
Both programs provide students with an academic knowledge of leadership, a set of leadership skills and competencies, and serve as a laboratory for experimentation in a range of leadership situations. They are excellent preparation for students interested in careers with community-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, education, public office, advocacy groups, and grass roots organizing.
Students with a genuine interest in the following will be a good fit for the Leadership Studies Programs at Williams Village.
- Social responsibility and citizenship, emphasizing the development of community leaders for all sectors of society
- Strengthening citizen problem solving roles
- Exploring complex social problems utilizing collaborative processes
- Understanding how institutions and communities solve problems and the different leadership styles needed to work effectively in each setting
- Expanding conceptions of leadership beyond the context of position and power
- Applying various modes of inquiry and knowledge to the academic study of leadership
- Exercising moral judgment, imagination and courage in the practice of leadership
- Building a sense of community among leadership students at Williams Village in order to strengthen the undergraduate community at the University of Colorado at Boulder
