Present: S. Avery, B. Kaempfer, C. Marsh, L. McClelland, D. Pinkow, R. Porreca
Distributed: Ch 2 draft, list of possible team members (attached to this e-mail).

Please note that the JULY 20th meeting will be held in 1B29. I will send a reminder closer to the date.

BK: mentioned that he has had feedback from Cecelia Lopez (our NCA liaison) regarding our suggested team members. 4 of the 10 have accepted. 1 has declined. Several haven't been contacted.

The following have accepted:

-George Walker (has accepted and agreed to be chair)
Dean and VP, Research Indiana University
He has also agreed to come sometime in the middle of February to do a walkthrough.

The positions of expertise that needed to be filled are the following:

-Student Affairs and Undergraduate Initiatives

(Charles Schroeder declined.) Ric mentioned that ?? Myers at CSU would be good. Also suggested were someone from Delaware (Ric) or Kansas (Lou).

-Administration areas, with expertise in human resources / benefits

(Warren Madden has been asked but we have not heard back yet.)

-Information Technology and Learning

(Cecilia did not contact Polley McClure as she has moved to Cornell.) Susan mentioned Oaks, V.P. of Research would be good from Illinois.

-Physical and Natural Science Disciplines

(Cecilia has not been able to contact Homer Neal.)

-Fine and Performing Arts

(Cecelia refused to contact David Wood as he reports to Walker at Indiana.)

-Humanities

(No suggestions were given so far, would like someone with particular expertise in undergraduate writing skills). Bill mentioned that someone who came out for writing PRP could come back.

The following people have been suggested by Cecelia Lopez to round out the team.

- Roy Koenigsknecht: SLHS at Ohio State, Dean of Graduate School.

- Nancy Cantor: Provost, Michigan.

- Marcus Price: Prof of Physics and Astronomy, UNM (Alb.)

- John Richard Sisson: Political Science, Ohio State University

- Christopher Squire: Associate Director of Research (Dentist by profession)

- Marilyn Stockstead: Art History,

Please give individual feedback regarding team members to Bill over the next couple of days. He will discuss these names with Phil on Thursday.

The committee then discussed Chapter 2.

DP mentioned that he thought the chapter was more descriptive than analytical. Also that he needs more information regarding physical infrastructure.

Chapter 2 will be discussed in more detail in next week's meeting.

Agenda for upcoming meetings:

June 22nd: Review Chapter 2 draft from David Pinkow, Review Chapter 3 from Susan Avery (not yet distributed)

June 28th: Chapter 5

Next NCA Self Study Committee meeting is June 22nd, 1-2:00 PM in Regent 302.
