Minutes: 4-13-99

Present: B. Foote, B. Kaempfer, P. Kelly (visitor), C. Marsh, L. McClelland, T. Lyons , D. Pinkow, M. Swadener, Kay Uchiyama

The task for the committee was to review the draft copy of Chapter IV and Brangwyn and Bill would share the events/activities of the 104th NCA Annual Meeting held in Chicago May 11th – May 14th.

BF showed a copy of Iowa self study- all criteria is stated in 20 pages, She stated that all final documentation should be short, description needs to be there but MUST have thoughtful evaluation and analysis.

BK Statement: for Chapter III we want to list the 8 colleges/schools, departments, major programs, graduate degrees and show web sites. and link their purposes to the departments, Programs that are responsive (International Affairs, Environmental Studies ) and programs that are accredited, Responsibility: should be an "evaluative assessment", (why it is here, not just what is there),

BF` Team would like report to be short and concise, If it is not necessary to be part of the text, then we can put it on the web or in the resource room, Backup documentation will follow text.

MS Suggested putting all files on CDs in addition to Web. Also would serve as record for next ten years.

BF Cecilia (Our NCA Rep.) will be putting the evaluation team together and will send list of team members in June, We will finalize our work closely with the chair of the team.

CM Reported that all reports except Diversity and Enrollment Management are on the Website. If you would like a copy of either of these, please contact Terri.   Architectural & Planning – have working draft, needs polishing up, and needs work on graphics

Need Administration report, Paul Tabolt will let us know what he wants published (final report).

DP Chapter II is moving slowly, will get together w/ Brangwyn and will have something in 2 weeks,

LM Distributed Data Forms to every one and explained each page. Lou suggested that Institutional data forms should link to their site (PBA).  Library, Athletics, IT should be linked before going online also.

Assessment

In Chapter IV, focus on evaluation & feedback , quality indicators (not necessarily campus wide), A few paragraphs are needed in describing feedback mechanism. This will be dealt with in Chapter III,

Two things to follow up on:

Quality and Performance Indicators:

Quality - respond to CCHE Mandate, Performance Indicators- what we are going to be using internally (not campus wide).

Chapter V – being developed, need reports from Susan A and David P

Next meeting in 2 Weeks, 27, 1999, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, Regent 302.

Brangwyn would like to know which NCA Self Study Committee members will be here during the Summer time.

Things to Note:

  • LM has provided an overview of CU-Boulder assessment. This is available on the website (reference section, Department. of Planning, Budget and Analysis).
  • University of Iowa has their self study available on-line. The link is available under the "Reference" section of the NCA Self Study Website.
