NCA Self Study Committee, please find attached minutes of the January 19th meeting. Next scheduled meeting is February 2, 1999, 1-3:00 pm, Regent 302.

Present: B. Foote, B. Kaempfer, T. Lyons, C. Marsh, D. Pinkow, G. Kozik-Rosabal, R. Steinhauer, M. Swadener

Brangwyn stated that by the end of the semester the NCA report has to be finalized. She asked the committee to review the web site: emrys.colorado.edu/selfstudy/ (user name: Committee, Password: please e-mail cathryn.marsh@colorado.edu if you need this).

The following unit reports have been received:

Student Affairs Administration
College of Engineering and Applied Science
University Libraries
Division of Continuing Education

Waiting for:

College of Business
College of Arts and Sciences
Office of Administration
School of Education
Graduate School (will have in by February)
College of Music (D. Pinkow to check if help is needed)
School of Law (is in but not complete-need to fill in blank spaces)

Brangwyn encouraged each NCA Self Study member to give aid to those working on their (school/college) self study reports.

When the sub-committees begin their work, they will need to fill in the pieces and check for unreported material.

Also need information from campus wide efforts in Assessment, Diversity, PRP, RAP’s and other undergraduate initiatives. Museum should come in Graduate School report.

Greatest part has already been presented in the IRMS report,

IRMS-Integrated Resource Management Strategy
PBA documents have been changed to meet the needs of NCA Self Study report,

Facilities Master Plan- work is there, Jim Baily is busy now and will ask Bill Herbsrait if he needs assistance with anything. There are three parts to the report, IRMS, Master Plan & Campaign

Question that came up at Boulder Vice meeting:

Is the self study and accreditation the act of undertaking the Strategic Plan?

NO- this is an assessment only and to make recommendations we see forthcoming and that we insert a summary in this plan. We are NOT policy makers.

Re: Integrity Section:

Arts and Sciences are reporting on all 5 criteria
Materials should be pulled for when other materials come in and perhaps ask Lou for assistance.

Re: New Section:

We need:

Introduction to report on how we have changed in the last 10 years. Lou is probably the person to ask to do this.

Committee will make own conclusion on this, Committee should read all reports listed on Web site.

Unit Reports

Most reports are included in PDF format, which is the easiest to download and print. Libraries is available in HTML format-Cathryn will transfer to PDF for easier download and readability. Engineering is available in Word format for both PC and MAC. (as there were problems associated with its transfer to PDF).

What is coming to the WEB?

The Charter and the Laws of the Regents and other central documents will be listed also. These will need to be listed for other reports in the future and should be available in a central location.

Marc asked if web site mapping software existed to make navigating sites easier. Cathryn will check into this.

Meeting times for Self Study Committee:

Tuesdays 2/2/99 1-3 pm, 2/16/99 1-3pm and 2/23 tentative meeting.

Thereafter committee will be meeting every week until May.

Sub committee meetings will be held separate from self study group meetings.
