Minutes: 2-23-98

Attending:  Lou, Jean, Bill, David, Ric, Bud, Marc, Shaun, Brang

Brangwyn reported on conference on assessment of general education and will meet with assessment folks to give them material she gathered.

The committee discussed the value of doing special emphases, given that we will be doing a thorough review of all the criteria.  The consensus was that there was no additional value to the campus by having special emphases, so Brangwyn will write the Chancellor recommending from the committee that the special emphases be dropped.

A question was raised about the Design and Planning undergraduate program and where it should be reviewed.  Again Brangwyn was asked to query the Chancellor on this point.

The committee discussed the appropriate role of the President's TLE plan in this review.  We agreed that since this was  campus review rather than a central one, TLE initiatives would be talked about in the report as they show up in campus activities.

The committee heard progress reports from sub-committees on plans for addressing the first three criteria.

Another question was raised about how much material should be on the Web and how much should be in hard copy.  Brangwyn indicated this issue would be addressed in a meeting tomorrow with computer services and Web development folks.   She asked that Marc attend that meeting as well.

Members asked that we create a list serve for the committee.  Terri will see to this.  (This has been done.  The name of the list is sscnca.)
