Minutes: 2-9-98

Present: McClelland, Delaney, Avery, Pinkow, Hill, Kaempfer, Foote

The Committee accepted the suggestions put forth by Foote in her 2-3-98 email, as to tasks, assignments, and timeframe.  Those members not in attendance may yet want to make slight changes to assignments.  Hill will also link to graduate programs.

The committee then considered the five criteria and made the following committee assignments to determine how best to respond to the criteria:

I.  McClelland, Kaempfer, Porreca, Foote

II. Pinkow, Kaempfer, Porreca

III. Delaney, Hill, McClelland, Foote, Kaempfer (and included here will be reports from Deans)

IV. Kaempfer, Porreca

V. Miramontes, Swadener, students (when selected)

Additional Comments from Brang:

I note we did not assign people to work on the special emphases.  We need to do that.  I would suggest for Technology the group should be Swadener, Miramontes, Dalrymple, Foote, and that they should meet with Bobbi Schnabel.  For Academic Neighborhoods, I suggest Delaney, Hill, Miramontes, Foote, and that they should meet with Russ McGoodwin.

Given the need for time to get all these groups together to put down what we should have in the Plan (remember that? -- the paper we must submit to NCA with prior approval on campus), I also suggest that we not meet next week.  Hence our next meeting will be on Monday, the 23rd.  At that time, we should have from each group, some written indication of how we will approach that area of the self study.

To get people together, let me also suggest that the first person named for each committee view themselves as coordinators in getting people together to meet and accomplish this task over the next week and a half.
