Major ChallengesTABOR amendment. Constraints of the TABOR amendment have begun to limit the universitys ability to serve its mission. For example, the campus is heavily dependent upon tuition for revenue, but growth in tuition rates has been held below national averages due to TABOR. Future implications of TABOR restrictions could be more severe. Administrative efficiencies. The campus likely will continue to experience some significant problems during the ongoing implementation of the ASP project. CU-Boulder must find ways to work with the system administration to accomplish the ASP goal of enhancing campus technological and management capabilities in the delivery of services. State relations. Recent changes in state leadership and directions have prompted discussions on how to continue building effective working relationships with such groups as CCHE. Faculty recruitment and retention. The campuss most outstanding faculty often are recruited heavily by peer institutions offering attractive compensation packages. Some departments have experienced serious losses. Reducing bureaucracy. Many students find the bureaucracy of the university unnecessarily cumbersome and slow. Support systems need to be reviewed and updated on a continuous basis.
