Action Plans and Recommendations

  • Continued attention should be given to developing strong, positive campus relationships with CCHE and other state entities.
  • Ongoing support must be provided to campus units throughout the ASP implementation period. In the future, lessons learned from the ASP experience should be applied in the planning stages of any significant administrative system changes, such as the student and faculty databases. The ASP organization should emphasize outreach and communication efforts with campus end-users, particularly in the procurement and accounts payable areas as well as human resources.
  • The planning and budgeting officers of the campus should continue on the path toward integrating all resources into a fiscal management plan for the campus. Only by reaching full revenue potential in areas outside the provisions of the TABOR amendment can the campus improve its fiscal outlook.
  • New strategies for enhancing faculty recruitment and retention are expected to emerge from a task force recently named by the vice chancellor for academic affairs. The campus should continue to pursue innovative faculty retention activities, such as interviewing exiting faculty, addressing housing costs in partnership with the private sector, examining dependent tuition program for possible enhancement, and renewing attention to needs of dual academic career couples.
  • In the area of tuition reform, the campus should continue to investigate innovations, such as guaranteed tuition, nonresident financial aid surcharges, and a graduate appointment tuition rate.
  • CU-Boulder has initiated the first phase of the Odyssey project in an effort to improve effectiveness and streamline delivery of student services. Phase II will focus on implementing appropriate strategies identified during the planning period.
  • The Division of Student Affairs continues to evolve from a focus on services to an emphasis on student development, aiming for an enhanced student learning environment.
