1.1 How many lessons do I receive for the Applied Music program?
You will receive 9 hours of private lessons or 30 hours of group lessons (beginning and intermediate guitar only). Group lessons will not be offered during the summer.

Each Applied Music course is 2 credit hours. Please check with your advisor on how the Applied Music course will apply to your degree program.
back to top2.1 What type of instruction does the Applied Music program offer?
The Applied Music program offers instruction in guitar, folk music instruments, piano, voice, winds, brass, drum set, strings, jazz styles, and ensemble coaching. Beginning and intermediate guitar students are assigned to a group class, not to individual lessons. A more limited variety of courses may be offered during the Summer Applied Music Program.

Students must provide their own instruments except for piano and drum set.
back to top3.1 When can I register for the Applied Music program?
The Applied Music program is only offered in the fall, spring and summer. Fall term usually begins in the first week of August and spring term usually begins in the first week of December. back to top3.3 Am I enrolled after talking with the Applied Music advisor?
No. You must return the Applied Music registration paperwork to the Division of Continuing Education and Professional Studies, 1505 University Avenue, 178 UCB, Boulder, CO 80309-0178 with payment.

Yes, as long as your previous Applied Music instructor is teaching this term. Please get approval from the Applied Music advisor first.

As many as you would like. It is your responsibility to check out how the Applied Music program relates to your degree program.
back to top3.6 Can I take Applied Music Lessons pass/fail or for no credit?
Yes. Applied Music classes can be taken pass/fail, no credit or for a letter grade. You must indicate your preference by the drop/add deadline. Engineering students must take applied music lessons pass/fail.
back to top4.1 If I am a non-resident student, will I pay out-of-state tuition for the Applied Music Lessons Program?
If you are a nonresident student paying nonresident tuition on main campus, an adjustment will be made to your Applied Music tuition. You will then pay the standard resident tuition for the Applied Music Lessons Program. Nonresident students who register for 4 or more semester hours in any semester, term, or session (excluding Independent Learning) will be charged full nonresident tuition. Students who have paid Continuing Education nonresident tuition may add up courses to a maximum of 18 hours for no additional charge.

Payment is preferred at the time of registration. We do take major credit cards: VISA, MasterCard, and Discover. If it would be helpful, you could work out a payment plan with our accounting department 303-492-2212.
