Dr. Yearsley's Biography Dr. William (Bill) S. Yearsley is a senior instructor and Nicholas R. Petry Professor in Construction Engineering and Management in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder. In addition to his faculty position, Dr. Yearsley serves as a board member for Dispatch Transportation in California and Milender White Construction based in Denver. Dr. Yearsley has extensive field experience in project management, operations management, estimating and engineering. Prior to entering the academic field, Dr. Yearsley co-founded American Civil Constructors (ACC), a $260 million-revenue public works construction business, in December of 1999 and functioned as the first CEO and Chairman. Previous to ACC he served as Chairman and CEO for Redland Aggregates, a business unit of Redland PLC an international public company, where he was responsible for the North American and European construction operations. He became the youngest and first parent company executive director from outside the European community to lead the 90 year-old UK public company. Dr. Yearsley has teaching responsibilities at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. At each level, he brings 30 years of private sector experience into the classroom through the use of case studies and student team projects. The undergraduate courses Dr. Yearsley teaches include Contract Administration and the Senior Design capstone course. At the graduate level, he teaches Construction Financial Management and co-teaches Research Methodology. Dr. Yearsley holds a B.S. from the School of Engineering and Technology at Southern Illinois University and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Construction Management from Colorado State University, where he was named an honored alumnus in 1997. He is a past member of the Young Presidents Organization and has served as an executive director of the Boy Scouts of America. |
