Jewish Studies

Jewish Studies offers an undergraduate certificate program for students who are interested in Jewish culture, history, society, and religion. For the past two millennia, Jews have been dispersed across the globe, influencing and being influenced by the societies in which they lived. The purpose of the certificate program is to familiarize students with different facets of Jewish life, past and present. The curriculum is multidisciplinary with over 30 courses taught by faculty in departments including history, religious studies, English, anthropology, philosophy, psychology, Germanic and Slavic languages and literatures, and the writing program.

The curriculum includes eight required courses (or 24 credit hours) in the humanities and social sciences; 15 of these hours must be at the upper-division level. Up to three courses (or 9 credit hours) from the student's major may be used for the certificate. Students must complete courses for the certificate with a grade of C- or better. In addition, students need to fulfill the requirements for a BA or BS in their major in a school or college at the University of Colorado.
