The Center for Asian Studies is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity. We have a small budget available to provide short-term student assistance for faculty engaged in projects related to Asian culture and language. Examples of appropriate projects include research assistance and proofreading. Please note: these awards are not intended to support strictly classroom instruction or grading without a research component. Undergraduate students will be paid $11.50/hour and graduate students will earn $15.00/hour to a maximum $750.

Proposals should include:

Name, department, and contact information for applicant

A description of the project and the student’s contribution

Name of the student you are proposing to hire

Whether the student is a graduate student or an undergraduate

Total number of hours the student will work (with justification of the need for this number of hours)

Projected start and end dates

Project budget including any other sources of funding
There are two bi-annual deadlines for applications: February 15 and October 15. The CAS Faculty Affairs Committee will review all applications. Successful applicants will be contacted with financial details, and the applicant’s home department will be expected to handle all HR procedures.
