OUTREACH TO ELEMENTARY CLASSROOMS The Program for Teaching East Asia (TEA) offers Boulder Valley elementary teachers the opportunity to enrich their classroom units on China and Taiwan, Japan, and India through TEA’s “It’s Elementary” service project. Through this program, CU undergraduates enrolled in Year 2 or higher of Chinese, Japanese, or Hindi, and international students from China, Japan and Taiwan, train with TEA staff to develop and teach lessons on language and culture in Boulder schools in conjunction with the district’s elementary grades curriculum on Asia. Each intern or a pair is assigned to a Boulder Valley classroom during the class unit on Asia and teaches multiple lessons to the class, in cooperation with the classroom teacher. Lessons may focus on simple language, writing, holidays and festivals, school life, the Chinese New Year, and other aspects of culture. For details, please visit the TEA website. |
