The Center for Asian Studies is pleased to announce the availability of a small amount of supplementary funding for research or conference travel for faculty engaged in Asian Studies.
Funding is available for both domestic and international travel. However, advance approval from our granting agencies is required for international travel, so plan accordingly to allow sufficient time before your travel. You may be required to fly an American carrier if you apply CAS funds to international airfare (according to the Fly America Act). University policies must be followed for any expenses to be paid by CAS.
Although funding decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis, the usual award amounts are $1000 for international travel and $500 for domestic. Typical awards contribute to airfare and lodging only.

Proposals are due by February 15 or by October 15 each year, and will be reviewed by the CAS Faculty Affairs Committee. Preference will be given to people who do not have alternative funding available so this should be addressed in your proposal. Awards will normally be limited to one per person per year.
