Biography 

Jay Ballantine is a senior instructor of accounting and business law at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He is a lawyer and CPA, and has experience at the international CPA firm, KPMG, as well as a large general corporate law firm. He holds a Bachelors degree in Economics from Purdue University, an MBA from Indiana University at Bloomington, and JD from the University of Colorado.

In 25 years in higher education, he has taught in Montana, Indiana, Kentucky, Colorado, Korea and Singapore. He has received several teaching awards including the Frascona Teaching Excellence Award at the Leeds School of Business. He has taught traditional university accounting and business law courses at all levels from freshmen to graduate level. Beyond traditional college courses, he has taught professional education courses to practicing CPAs; other groups taught include international executives, recent liberal arts graduates with no business experience, and government officials from several of the former Soviet republics. He has authored several textbook supplements, including a guide for the business law coverage on the CPA exam.

He has served as an advisor to several student organizations and works closely with students in planning a preparing for the Uniform CPA Examination.
