The Busemann Advanced Concepts Laboratory (BAC Lab) is dedicated to the research, design, and development of high speed propulsion systems. The lab was established in 2008 by Dr. Ryan Starkey in the Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences, in the College of Engineering & Applied Science, part of the University of Colorado, Boulder. Within our main focus area, the Aerospace Engineering Systems group, we are the only propulsion research group. The research emphasis areas include fundamental propulsion properties, integrated design and optimization, and testing and operations of high-speed applications. The BAC Lab brings together a multidisciplinary group of researchers from aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, physics, and computer science.
