Atmosphere: Context, Detachment, and the Modern Subject in Outer Space

Friday, Oct. 4
4 p.m. in Hale 230
Followed by a reception

Anthropologist David Valentine will give an innovative talk based on his ethnographic research on “new space” companies in California and their conceptions of the future and the impending privatized colonization of outer space. These visions provoke us to reconsider Earth and its resources as the naturalized context for human futures.
