A public comment period for the draft CU Boulder Climate Action Plan (CAP) runs from Feb. 5 to March 5. During this period, the CAP steering committee will hold weekly public engagement sessions to address questions that may arise. This week's session is at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, via Zoom.
Faculty and staff who are working on a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Impact Grant proposal draft and have a question or two are welcome to drop into a virtual office hour session on Feb. 13 from 12:45 p.m. to 2 p.m. via Zoom. Proposal submissions are due on Feb. 13 at 11:59 p.m. via OpenWater.
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Impact Grant program is sponsored by the Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Inquiries and requests for additional support may be sent to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Program and Assessment Manager Lynda Duran. The Colorado Presidential Primary is March 5, but ballots are mailed to eligible voters beginning Monday, Feb 12. Check your voter registration if you recently moved, and/or get registered today!
While there is no registration deadline in Colorado, Feb. 12 is the deadline to change or withdraw party affiliation if you are registered with another party (other than Democratic, Republican or unaffiliated) if you wish to vote. New Colorado voters can register and vote up to and including Election Day (see below for in-person voting).

If you plan to vote in Colorado (either in Boulder or your home county), please register to vote or check your registration.
Feb. 26 is the last date to register/update your registration and still be mailed a ballot. After that, you can still vote, but you will need to go to a voter center to register or vote in-person. There will be a voter center in the UMC beginning Monday, Feb. 26, and you may use your Buff OneCard to register and vote.
Because both party ballots are the same statewide, any eligible Colorado voter can cast a ballot at the UMC Vote Center.
Boulder County Elections has a specific way you must list your on-campus address on your voter registration record in order to get your mail ballot. Visit the Boulder County student voting guidelines.
Simply drop off your mail ballot on campus at the 24-hour dropbox at the UMC by Election Day Tuesday, March 5 (or go vote in person). This box may be used by any Colorado voter; out-of-county ballots will be rerouted to the correct county.

The basic needs campus survey for undergraduate and graduate students is open now through Feb. 21! Please remind students to check their campus email for a link to complete the survey.
The survey will help CU Boulder identify needs and improve the programs and services that support students' access to basic needs. Students are encouraged to participate in this survey even if they have not experienced insecurity related to housing, food or other basic needs. The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. The responses are confidential and will be summarized with other responses.
If students complete the survey by 11:59 p.m. Feb. 21, they will have a chance at winning an air fryer, campus meal swipes, textbook assistance, CU Boulder swag, Apple AirPods or $500!

The Volunteer Buff Grant Program provides students with the opportunity and resources to create a service project that is impactful and meaningful to them and their community. The CU Alternative Breaks program sends teams of college students to engage in meaningful service during breaks from school. Get the opportunity to explore the United States while making a difference through service, reflecting upon your experience and creating long-lasting connections with others.
This year’s programs include community gardening and addressing food insecurity in Oregon, constructing and repairing homes on a reservation in South Dakota, developing programs for youth facing significant life challenges in Minnesota, and understanding and impacting homelessness in an urban environment in California.
The annual Campus Sustainability Awards celebrate individuals and departments that demonstrate a commitment to sustainability through inventive programs and initiatives that directly reduce resource use, enhance social equity and cohesion or promote a culture of sustainability at CU Boulder.
Awardees will be recognized on April 25 at the annual Campus Sustainability Summit. Nominations are due on March 16.

Researchers from the Neurophysiology of Movement Laboratory at CU Boulder are conducting a study to investigate if electrical stimulation applied to the legs can reduce fatigue and improve walking in persons with multiple sclerosis.
You may be eligible to participate if you:
The 11-week study involves four evaluation visits and 18 treatment sessions (three times/week for six weeks).

The Department of Political Science at CU Boulder is excited to announce the Civic Engagement Fair on Thursday, Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in UMC 235.
The fair is targeted toward social science majors to connect them with opportunities to engage with their civic duties. We are especially focused on widening students’ concepts of what they can do with their social science degrees by connecting them with organizations that depend on civic activities to sustain their operations.
We define civic engagement as the act of participating in collective efforts to improve the culture and conditions of our world. Our guiding principle with this event is that it can be easy to fall for the trap that contributing to our political world is out of reach and not worth the effort for the average person. Indifference is a coping mechanism for disempowerment. Our goal in hosting this fair is to show students the wide array of opportunities to get involved and build community in civic spaces.
The event will be kicked off with presentations from two CU Boulder alumni: Boulder County Commissioner Marta Loachamin (bachelor's in ethnic studies) and Boulder Couty Clerk and Recorder Molly Fitzpatrick (bachelor's in political science).
