The university is accepting applications for an associate vice chancellor and chief of staff, who will support Chief Operating Officer Patrick O’Rourke and the members of the Strategic Resources and Support division.
O’Rourke oversees SRS, which encompasses CU Boulder’s business, communications, enrollment management, facilities management, finance, human resources, public safety and information technology priorities. The division works to enhance and support the university’s academic and research missions in partnership with the chancellor and the provost.
The individual selected for this key senior leadership role on campus will succeed Abby Benson, who previously held the position and recently served as deputy chief operating officer. Benson is stepping down to accept a senior advisory role at the University of Rhode Island.

The new AVC and chief of staff to the COO will provide support and guidance on efforts that span across the SRS division and the campus. Successful candidates will possess high-level leadership skills, the ability to provide strategic insights and a proven track record for implementing organizational initiatives, O’Rourke said.

As currently envisioned, the role exercises formal oversight over the CU Boulder Office of Government and Community Engagement and the transformation team. However, these roles may be reassigned depending upon the successful candidate’s skills and interests.
