Faculty: You'll need to update any OneSearch hyperlinks by July

magnifying glass on laptop keyboard

The University Libraries is updating the main online library search as part of a planned move to a new library services platform, the Future Of Libraries Is Open (FOLIO). The new OneSearch will launch on June 20 and will offer a cleaner, more modern search of the catalog and a new look for the search bar.

This means that OneSearch permalinks to books, articles and journals currently used in syllabi, courses and elsewhere will no longer work, effective July 2022. Faculty will need to update any permalinks they are using to point to the new OneSearch.

Please contact the libraries at libera@colorado.edu for assistance in migrating your links to function within the new interface. Examples of these links:

  • Links that begin with https://ucblibraries.summon.serialssolutions.com/

We are excited to update this library service and hope to make the transition as seamless as possible.

Campus community directed to Boulder County dashboard for COVID-19 data

The CU Boulder COVID-19 dashboard has been retired as of May 31, 2022. Archived data remains accessible for the fall 2020, spring 2021, fall 2021 and spring 2022 semesters.

Boulder County continues to publish the most current local COVID-19 metrics, which incorporate case metrics for CU Boulder affiliates living in the county.

While Boulder County is currently classified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the High community level, there are no on-campus restrictions at this time. We will continue to monitor local conditions, and implement a framework for public health and COVID-19 decision-making that follows CDC guidance.

CU Boulder continues to take the following measures to help minimize transmission of COVID-19:

  • CU Boulder’s vaccine/booster requirement remains in place for students, faculty and staff.
  • Masks and rapid antigen tests for home use continue to be available for students and employees at distribution sites across campus, including the University Memorial Center (UMC), Center for Academic Success and Engagement (CASE), Sustainability, Energy and Environment Community (SEEC) and the Student Recreation Center.
    • Home tests are also available on the third floor of Wardenburg Health Center.
  • Free COVID-19 testing and vaccination continue to be available through Medical Services.

The campus case investigation and contact tracing team remains available to answer questions from individuals testing positive or exposed to COVID-19, as well to provide consultation to departments and supervisors. They can be reached at 303-735-0017 or contacttracing@colorado.edu.

Graduation deadlines

June 15: Graduate students who have not already done so must apply online to graduate through Buff Portal on the “apply for graduation” card in order to have the degree awarded in August. This is required even though there is no university-wide ceremony. PhD students must enter their dissertation title as part of the online graduation application, and the title may be updated until this deadline. This title will appear on your transcript after your degree is awarded.

Planning to have your degree awarded in summer 2022? Preview additional upcoming graduation deadlines on the Graduate School website.

Student insurance portal opens June 14

All students are required to carry a comprehensive medical insurance plan while attending CU Boulder. Complete your requirements now for the fall semester. The portal opens June 14 and closes Sept. 15.

Students may elect health insurance coverage through:

  • Anthem Gold Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), a plan exclusively for CU students
  • Private insurance, an individual health insurance plan through a family member or employer

Students must meet this requirement their first semester at CU Boulder and at the beginning of each academic year. Those taking 6 or more undergraduate credit hours or 1 or more graduate credit hours are required to complete the health insurance requirement process.

Once a student is registered for their semester credits, the student will begin receiving email communications from Academic HealthPlans. These emails explain the insurance requirement and outline the process of enrolling or waiving the Anthem Gold SHIP.

All fee-paying students, regardless of their insurance plan, have full access to the services provided by Health and Wellness Services.

Boulder County moves into high COVID-19 community levels

Boulder County has moved into high COVID-19 community levels based on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) metrics.

The move from the medium to high COVID-19 community level indicates that COVID cases are high in our community, and the strain on hospitals and healthcare facilities in Boulder County is rising.
